Reversing Dementia using Functional Medicine?

reversing dementia, functional medicine, functional nutrition

Memory loss is a very real, and scary thing. In fact, it's one of the top fears of our elders.

What would you say if I told you that Alzheimer's Disease, a type of Dementia, can be reversed?

Dr. Dale Bredesen is leading the charge and published a few case studies showing just how he was able to improve memory in 9 out of the 10 participants.

And guess what?

with brain health and memory... all start in the gut.

Let me begin by sharing the journey of one of the participants.

This is a 55-year-old attorney who "suffered progressively severe memory loss for four years." She would forget meetings, leave the stove on at home, and have to start to record conversations to help her remember. Further, she was unable to learn Spanish, which she needed for her job. She was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's Disease.

Her program involved a mixture of nutrition and lifestyle interventions. She was asked to eliminate simple carbohydrates and processed foods, and implement a fasting regimen.

She increased her vegetables and fruit, avoided farmed fish, and exercised 4-5 times weekly. She tried to get 8 hours of sleep each evening and incorporated meditation and relaxation into her life for stress reduction.

She worked with a physician to balance her estrogen and progesterone hormones and was placed on a variety of individualized nutrition supplements. After 5 months on this program, not only did she greatly improve, but she was able to start tapering down on her anti-depressant medication.

After just 5 months, she no longer needed to record conversations, she was able to learn a new language, and began to learn a new legal specialty. She was once again able to answer questions with "normal rapidity and memory".

In functional medicine/nutrition, this sort of recovery is common. We providers regularly get to help our clients improve from chronic diseases they've been told they'll have for life - including Type 2 Diabetes, arthritis, headaches, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (which is my specialty).

My ultimate goal is to help you reach your goals, so you can regain your health, feel better, and get back to living the life you dream about.
